About the Role
Step into the dynamic world of data at White Star Capital! We are seeking a highly motivated Data Analyst to join our Data and Technology team, based in North America. As a Data Analyst you will play an essential role in the development of White Star Capital’s technology stack and long-term technology-enabled strategy.
The successful candidate will be an integral part of the execution and build-out of White Star Capital’s data and technology systems, and will support White Star Capital’s growth as a world class data-driven decision-making organisation.
In addition to your duties as a Data Analyst, prepare to collaborate with our highly skilled investment teams. You’ll have the opportunity to identify promising investment opportunities, assess potential investments, and offer valuable post-investment support.

What you will be responsible for
- Assist with the design and architecture of key strategic technologies for the broader Investment and Finance team
- Help identify and implement solutions which improve efficiency and effectiveness through the identification, simplification, and automation of processes
- Assist with technology solution initiative and implementation of new systems such as Salesforce, Tableau, and Sisense
- Support the development of financial reports and calculating portfolio valuation metrics for General and Limited Partner reporting
- Work closely with the Technology and Finance teams on design and implementation of robust data upload processes, system-based quality checks, internal controls, and exception handling.
- Oversee integrations between external and internal systems, leveraging API technologies and SFTP connections
- Develop tools for internal knowledge sharing such as charts and dashboards (using Tableau/Sisense), ensuring data completeness and processes for error investigation and resolution with internal teams.
- Work ad-hoc with large datasets of underlying portfolio data to monitor performance and derive actionable insights to achieve key portfolio objectives
- Partner with the Technology team to automate existing reports and develop new reporting and analytics that leverage White Star Capital’s cloud database and analytical tools (Excel, Python, SQL, Tableau, etc.)
- Contribute innovative ideas towards future White Star Capital strategic initiatives
- Participate in team meetings and other firm-wide initiatives to share insights gained from analysis
Who we are looking for
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field such as finance, economics, mathematics, or statistics
- 2+ years of experience in a data analysis role — Bonus if in Venture Capital or Private Equity
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- High level of proficiency in Excel and complex financial modelling skills as well as coding experience in Python or other relevant programming languages
- Proficiency in SQL, and experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI or Sisense
- Experience with Salesforce is a bonus
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Interest in emerging markets, trends, and technologies
